This Fall, Endicott College Freshmen Will Read This I Believe II

Endicott College in Beverly, Massachusetts has selected This I Believe II: More Personal Philosophies of Remarkable Men and Women as the common book for incoming freshmen this fall!

New students will read the book over the summer in preparation for their class, EC101: Endicott Transitions, a first year experience course that “addresses the challenges of incoming students and provides strategies for success in an academic community.”

Writing assignments and class discussions in first few weeks of that course will revolve around the book.  Previous coursework has included course blogs where students could post and revise written work and engage with their professors, who posted responses directly to the students’ blogs.

This I Believe, the first volume of essays edited by Jay Allison and Dan Gediman, was the common text for Endicott freshmen in 2008. That book was a success in EC101, and this year, the common book selection committee voted unanimously to choose This I Believe II.

This I Believe and This I Believe II are two of our Popular Picks for first-year reading!  To see what other schools have adopted these titles for common reading programs, click here.
